The Fundamentals of the Professional Standard Process

Even with the best of intentions, planning and preparation, occasional disagreements arise between REALTORS^® and/or REALTORS^®’ clients. The professional standards process plays a very important role. It helps ensure honorable, faithful and competent service to our members, their clients and other members of the public.

Code of Ethics

REALTORS^® everywhere have pledged to meet the high professional standards of the Code of Ethics upon becoming members of the Upstate Alliance of REALTORS^®. The single, most outstanding characteristic that sets REALTORS^® apart from other real estate practitioners is the willingness to accept and abide by the Code of Ethics. The Code of Ethics, which was first adopted in 1913, is a living document responsive in its content to changes in law and industry. The Code has been revised several times through the years to reflect the current developments in professional real estate practice. By becoming a member of the Upstate Alliance of REALTORS^®, a real estate agent has made the decision to take an extra professional step.
